How do you fight the fear of failure? “Do what you love and love what you do”.
Cliche? Maybe… but isn’t it true? Doing what you love brings you happiness, maybe even joy… that carries you through your days.
I’m just starting out and starting a business is super scary and I do have a fear of failure. It brings up a lot of feelings that I’ve spent years avoiding. Feelings like vulnerability when it comes to talking about my talents. Even though I have to in order to gain clients and partner with people who have the same goals, objectives, and fears that I have.
This one might really throw you… I also have a fear of success.
Yes, I said it. Fear of success is something that happens to some of us. So much so that we might even sabotage ourselves because we are used to staying under the radar or maybe we’ve always thought we weren’t “good enough”. The other factor that affects fear of failure for me is… “no one will be suprirsed if this doesn’t work out for me.” Another lie I have told myself in the past.
The truth is that even as a little girl I had big dreams. I was always very creative and made up full plays with scene changes and everything with my best gal pal growing up. (Who I still see on a weekly basis and we love watching her daughters make up plays and dances as we did). Back then I had NO fear of failure!
Somewhere along the way, even with the 2 degrees from the University of Central Florida, I lost the dreams that I’d once had. Life circumstances, marriage, divorce, multiple moves within short amounts of time and I just kept thinking “It’s just not the time for me to start something like this”… and “who am I to think I DESERVE this?”
Well, I know I just celebrated one year of being in business for myself but I do know that I am doing what I love and it doesn’t FEEL like work!!
I literally get so excited when talking about branding, websites, logos and all things that have to do with creating a successful business presence that my clients are sometimes having to calm ME down!
Let me tell you something else. Soul Creative pretty much fell in my lap and started itself. It was saying to me… “it’s happening, sweetheart, whether you want it to or not”… and I’ve never been happier.
I can plan for the future of it, but in many ways, a lot is out of my hands, so I’m enjoying the ride now!
If you’re already doing what you love but you don’t feel like your authentic purpose shines through in your businesses’ online presence, Soul Creative can help! Let’s get creative over coffee, tea, at your office or my work place… you decide. I’m looking forward to it!
